Excellent Public Schools
The mission of the Litchfield school district is “to provide rigorous and varied educational opportunities that challenge and engage all students to attain their highest level of intellectual, social, physical, and emotional growth.” School district staff, in partnership with parents and the Litchfield community “will enable all students to fulfill their aspirations and help instill a lifelong passion for learning. This partnership is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment to develop confident, responsible, and productive members in our community and global society.”
Litchfield has three public schools, which consistently rate high among parents, students, and teachers. Griffin Memorial School houses 521 students from pre-kindergarten through 4th grade. Litchfield Middle School has a student body of 544 and contains grades 5 through 8. Campbell High School houses 577 students from grades 9 through 12. Academic departments at Campbell High include Art, Business/Technology/Computers/Consumer Science, English, Math, Music, Physical Education/Health, Science, Social Studies, Special Education, and World Languages. Campbell High also offers a wide range of sports teams and extra curricular activities, including Art Club, Drama, Future Business Leaders of America, and National Honor Society.

Quality Health Care
Strategically located between Manchester and Nashua, Litchfield residents enjoy access to fine medical facilities in both of these cities. Hospitals and medical centers in this area are well known for their excellent service. For example, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Hospital Quality Alliance have designated Catholic Medical Center in the top 10% of hospitals for rapid response to heart attack patients. St. Joseph Hospital boasts the state’s only CARF-accredited stroke program and round-the-clock emergency services at the state’s first Level II Trauma Center. For routine healthcare needs, Dartmouth Hitchcock of Nashua and Manchester offer multi-specialty, community group practices that provide primary and specialty care services for the entire family.

Low Crime Rate
Litchfield enjoys a low crime rate, a factor that contributes greatly to the community’s overall quality of life. The Litchfield Police Department provides 24 hour police protection, which includes patrol, investigations, community policing efforts, and crime prevention. Affordable & Available Housing
According to the NH Office of Energy and Planning, in 2007 there were a total of 2,893 housing units in Litchfield. Of those, 2,322 were single-family units, 450 were multi-family units, and 121 were manufactured homes. In 2007, the total property tax rate per $1000 of value was $14.20. According to the NH Housing Finance Authority, the median purchase price of all homes in Litchfield for 2008 was $275,000, down from $300,000 in 2007.

Regardless of your age or tastes, there is plenty to do in Litchfield and the surrounding areas. The Town of Litchfield offers a variety of activities, including organized sports teams, walking and biking trails, and golf courses. Roy Memorial Park features two baseball/softball diamonds, a soccer field, playground, and Talent Hall. In the summer months, residents enjoy fishing, swimming, and boating in Darrah Pond. For the golf enthusiast, Litchfield is home to Hidden Creek Country Club, Passaconaway Country Club, and Countryside Golf Club. Mel’s Funway Park offers entertainment for the whole family with go-karts, mini golf, batting cages, a driving range, and more. For those who enjoy the outdoors, New Hampshire’s natural resources lie tantalizingly close to Litchfield. The seacoast is only one hour from Litchfield, the heart of White Mountains is less than two hours away, and residents can enjoy canoeing, kayaking, and fishing on the Merrimack River right in town. For more urban amenities, Litchfield residents can quickly and easily travel to the nearby cities of Nashua, Manchester, and Boston.

Precipitation levels are fairly steady throughout the year, ranging from a low of 3.09 inches in February to a high of 4.17 inches in November.
